5 Classic Jeep Models Best of All times

Classic Jeep Models - The Five Best of All Time

Jeep is an iconic automobile manufacturer known for its daring designs and rugged off-road capability. Now celebrating 80 years in business, it is time to reflect on the classic Jeep models that led to today's lineup.

The vehicle that started Jeep and is the inspiration behind Jeep's successful Wrangler series, the Willys MB was produced between 1941 and 1945 as a military vehicle at the beginning of World War II. Essentially, the Willys MB is the Jeep that started it all.

The Wills MB started Jeep's legacy, and its original design has been integrated into every Jeep model ever since. Withstanding the test of time, the Willys MB was a loyal, durable, and virtually indestructible car that was the only vehicle to meet the U.S. Army's requirements for engine capability and utility while maintaining a curb weight of under 589 kg.

To do this, the YJ featured less ground clearance and a more comfortable and spacious cabin environment. The initial model produced 112 horsepower, which was considered a very capable Jeep at the time. A list of the five most classic Jeep models would not be complete without the one that started the Wrangler movement.

Following directly on the heels of the Willys MB and WWII, the 1945 Willys is the first-ever civilian "Jeep" vehicle. It was manufactured between 1945 and 1949, and this classic started the civilian Jeep legacy. Its dedication to design and capability set the standard to which Jeep still aspires today.

In 1987, Jeep tagged its latest offering as the Wrangler YJ, launching a cult dedication to the manufacturer's most capable off-road vehicle. Featuring the instantly recognizable square headlights, this unique vehicle was the first to  offer off-road capabilities with a design that also appealed to everyday drivers.

Before SUVs were SUVs, there was the Jeep Wagoneer. Dubbed a "station wagon" when it was first introduced, it was designed as a luxury workhorse and did its job splendidly. The Jeep Wagoneer was built on a pickup truck chassis but drove like a seda.

The Wagoneer was the first in its class to offer an independent front suspension, power steering, automatic transmission, air conditioning, and radio. Its incredible popularity and perfect design led to the Wagoneer being produced longer than nearly any other vehicle.
