Best of the Compact SUVs

2020 Subaru Forester vs 2020 Toyota RAV4
Subaru and Toyota are two of the top manufacturers of compact SUVs with the extremely popular Forester and RAV4 models being best-selling vehicles year after year. With great designs and good use of space, it is hard to determine which is the better buy.
2020 Subaru Forester
The 2020 Subaru Forester offers something for everyone, and this versatility shows as it continues to be a perennial favourite across Canada. Redesigned for 2020, the Forester is built on the Subaru Global Platform and comes standard with systems such as Subaru Symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive (AWD), X-MODE, SI-DRIVE, and Hill Descent Control.
The 2020 Subaru Forester is available in six different model trims: Forester, Convenience, Touring, Sport, Limited, and Premier. Starting at $28,695, the Forester comes standard with renowned 2.5-litre direct injection SUBARU BOXER engine and Lineartronic CVT transmission. Offering 182 horsepower, the Forester gets 9.0 L/100km city and 7.2 L/100km highway fuel economy.
The base-model Forester includes such standard features as EyeSight driver assist technology, LED headlights, heated front seats, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen with SirusXM as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.
2020 Toyota RAV4
The 2020 RAV4 is also one of the most popular midsize SUVs in Canada. Starting around $28,000, the RAV4 comes in 11 different model configurations depending on whether buyers want a petrol engine, hybrid version, off-road package, front-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive.
The base model LE comes standard with front-wheel drive and a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that provides 203 horsepower. The fuel economy is rated at 8.8 L/100km city and 6.8 8.8L/100km highway. The RAV4 comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, heated front seats, automatic windows, and a six-speaker audio system with 7-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
2020 Subaru Forester for the Win
The 2020 Subaru Forester is the quintessential compact SUV. Coming standard with all-wheel drive and Subaru's safety systems, it offers a better value than the RAV4, which provides worse fuel economy with its standard front-wheel drive configuration. The 2020 Subaru Forester brings pep and vigour to the driving experience, allowing drivers to tackle any terrain they wish.
